Arbitrator Rules For Jackson County; Sheriff’s Layoffs May be Averted
A binding arbitration ruling favored Jackson County over their Sheriff’s Employees’ Association in a decision released Friday afternoon.
The decision in the wage dispute means the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department may be able to rescind some or all of the 66 layoff notices sent last month.
Jackson County was offering a salary increase for 2013 based on the consumer price index that is yet to be determined limited to two percent.
The Employees’ Association was asking for retroactive increases for 2011 through 2013 based on the index.
