Alleged arsonist sets barn ablaze
Oregon State Troopers arrested a man Saturday for allegedly setting a barn he had been staying in on fire.
Dispatch received a call at approximately 7:22 a.m. reporting a barn at 4304 Dick George Road had been lit on fire by 28-year-old Jason Apollo Scott. Firefighters arrived on scene and managed to douse the blaze with no injuries.
Gary Armijo, the man who owns the barn, told detectives he had been allowing Scott to stay in an apartment in the building. He said he had awoken to Scott smashing out windows and tail lights on his pickup and jeep with a hammer and a rock. Armijo then exited the residence to discover the barn on fire and he called authorities.
Detectives say during their investigation they had discovered at least three fires that had been ignited in the barn.
Scott is charged with first-degree arson and criminal mistreatment and is being held in the Josephine County Jail on $20,000 bail.
