The Grants Pass Undeniable Committee is setting out to break a Guinness World Record by creating the largest display of hanging baskets by placing 2,500 baskets filled with flowers across the city of Grants Pass.

The current record is 2,426 hanging baskets held by Akar Landscaping Services & Agriculture based in Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates. The baskets were hung during an event called the Al Ain Paradise on March 20, 2010.

Volunteers from the Josephine County Master Gardeners program will be planting the flowers on March 16 at Chet’s Garden Center on H Street in preparation for the record setting attempt that will be held on May 11.
