Details emerge in Table Rock Road pedestrian death
Investigators have released more details about a crash that left a pedestrian dead on Table Rock Road near East Gregory Road in Central Point at approximately 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Witnesses say that 19-year-old Jesse Meadows was driving his 1998 Honda Civic northbound at approximately 45 to 50 mph when a pedestrian, later identified as 54-year-old Frank Carlton of Central Point, stepped into Meadows’ lane of travel, was struck and thrown into the southbound lane. Another motorist, 21-year-old Jacob Lyon was traveling about 45 mph southbound and slammed on his brakes but was unable to stop his 2012 Ford Focus from striking Charlton.
Charlton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meadows and Lyon were tested for intoxicants and neither of the drivers was impaired. Toxicology results for Charlton are still pending.
