A Merlin man heard charges filed against him for allegedly sexually abusing a six-year-old girl during arraignments today in Josephine County Circuit Court.

44-year-old Raymond Allen Floyd Puckett is accused of touching the girl near Puckett’s residence in the 300 block of Galice Road in Merlin on Feb. 17.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Oregon State Trooper Jess Elzy, the victim told the trooper about the crime and when Elzy confronted Puckett about the incident he confessed and was subsequently arrested.

Puckett is being held in the Josephine County Jail on $50,000 bail.
