Fred Meyer Recalls Bread Following the Discovery of Plastic in some Loaves
Fred Meyer Stores have issued a recall of five breads after discovering the products may contain pieces of plastic. Fred Meyer officials say the plastic pieces were not small in size and would not go unnoticed. It’s not something that could be accidently swallowed.
The products recalled were QFC Tender Twist Wheat Bread, 20 ounces; Fred Meyer Tender Twist Honey Cracked Wheat Bread, 24 ounces; Fred Meyer Tender Twist 100 percent Whole Wheat Bread, 24 ounces; and Fred Meyer Tender Twist Wheat Bread, 22.5 ounces.
The origin of the plastic remains under investigation. The Fred Meyer Community Affairs Manager says the company’s bakery is high tech with several systems in place to ensure consumer safety, and that this incident is unusual.
Anyone who has purchased these breads can bring them back to the store for a refund or exchange.
