Two suspects in Menegazzi Park stabbing sentenced to prison
Two suspects in a stabbing case that occurred at Menegazzi Park in October of last year were sentenced to prison today in Josephine County Circuit Court.
29-year-old Angela Rae Smith was in an argument with Leanne Darby at the park on the evening of Oct. 1. 43-year-old Dale Alexander Roberts was involved in the argument as well and he pulled a knife from his backpack, handed it to Smith and encouraged her to stab Darby. Smith then stabbed Darby multiple times in the upper body, arms and neck. Smith was arrested an hour later at the Crown Market and Roberts was arrested a little over a week later after detectives ascertained his involvement in the crime.
Darby eventually recovered from her injuries after treatment at the hospital.
Smith pled guilty to second-degree assault and will serve five years and 10 months in prison on the Measure 11 charge. Roberts pled guilty to third-degree assault and was sentenced to 14 months in prison.
