Neighbors Oppose Permanent Cover for Lithia Rink
Ashland neighbors are opposing the idea of covering the ice rink in Lithia Park with a permanent roof. 18 neighbors signed a petition delivered to the Ashland Parks and Recreation Department saying the permanent roof would be a costly eyesore.

The parks commission has budgeted $112,000 to buy a new temporary roof to replace a temporary canopy that was destroyed by weather in 2007. They are also exploring the option of a permanent roof that would cost an estimated $500,000.

The parks commission will explore the options in depth in a March study session.
