Autopsy Reveals No Sign of Foul Play in Death of Rachel Rice
An autopsy conducted on the remains of Rachel Rice, missing since August of 2005, showed no signs of foul play.
Rice, who was 46 at the time of her disappearance, had been diagnosed as schizophrenic and was last seen walking barefoot on Old Stage Road on August 2nd of 2005. Rice had a history of running away from foster homes and even her family because her disease caused her to believe she was in danger.
January 5th of this year, a miner reported finding what he believed were human remains off Old Military Road. The location could only be reached on foot and authorities were able to collect the remains the next day and a deputy medical examiner was able to identify Rice through dental records.
