Ashland High School students charged with sex crimes for hazing football players
The Ashland Police Department has arrested three Ashland High School students and another juvenile on charges of coercion and attempted first-degree unlawful sexual penetration for hazing five members of the Ashland High School football team during football camp at Linfield College in McMinville.
The incident occurred sometime between June 21 and June 24.
Police received information regarding the hazing and possible sexual assault. An extensive investigation which involved 48 forensic interviews with members of the football team revealed five members of the football team had been coerced into behaving in a manner they had the legal right to abstain from and three members of the team were subjected to forcible compulsion.
Two of the students and the fourth juvenile were each charged with five counts of coercion and a single count of attempted sexual penetration. The third student was charged with five counts of coercion.
The investigation did not reveal any long standing pattern of hazing or coercion within the Ashland High School football program.
