Jackson County GMO Ban Goes to May 2014 Ballot
The organization GMO-Free Jackson County had more than enough qualified signatures to qualify their measure to ban genetically modified crops from Jackson County on the May 2014 election.

Jackson County clerk confirmed the group well surpassed the required 4,662 verified signatures.

The measure would ban anyone from raising genetically engineered plants in Jackson County, with exemptions for scientific research.

Proponents say genetically modified crops are more resistant to weeds and pests, easier to grow and are more productive.
