Jackson County Pursuit Ends in I-5 Crash
Two people were hospitalized late yesterday afternoon after a stolen pickup rear-ended a 2005 Dodge Neon while being pursued by a Jackson County Deputy.
At 4:26 p.m. Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies received a report of a 2012 Chevy pickup being stolen by Tasha Dietrich, 26, of Central Point.
The pickup’s owner knew Dietrich, found her intoxicated, walking in Gold Hill and let her climb into the backseat of the pickup. She then climbed into the front seat, locked the doors and drove off, with the owner following in his girlfriend’s car.
A deputy located the pickup southbound on I-5 at milepost 27 and attempted a stop when Dietrich accelerated and the pursuit began, reaching speeds of 90 miles per hour before rear ending the Neon being driven by Justin Hascall, 29, of Phoenix.
Hascall was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries as was Deitrich where she was to be kept overnight before being medically cleared for jail.
