Downtown Fire Consumes Gunsmith Shop
Grants Pass fire and rescue were dispatched to 115 Southwest H last night at 9:13 p.m. to a fire originating in a commercial building that contains the Lock, Stock and Barrel gunsmithing shop next to the Tee Time Coffee Shop.

Fire crews arrived to find smoke showing from the second floor of a large commercial building. Crews took quick decisive action to search for the hostile fire. The nature of the building, due to size and arrangement, allowed the fire to spread within the hidden spaces. Crews worked from several floors to find and suppress the fire.

It took time to do a thorough search for victims due to the multiple occupancies within the structure. Grants Pass Fire Rescue used the ladder truck to reach the top of the building to conduct ventilation operations. A second and third alarm was called to include a structural strike team from Jackson County. This brought a total of nine engines and fifty firefighters to the incident. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

Fire crews conducted an aggressive salvage operation to minimize the damage to the occupant’s contents. Fire checks were also conducted throughout the night to prevent any further property damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation with fire fighters still on the scene early this morning. Any one with information related to this fire should contact the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety.
