Police arrest second suspect for Menegazzi Park stabbing

The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety has arrested a second man for his alleged involvement in a stabbing that occurred at Menegazzi Park on Oct. 1.

43-year-old Dale Alexander Roberts, a transient who has resided in Josephine County for five years, was arraigned in Josephine County Circuit Court Wednesday on a first-degree assault charge. His bail is set at $100,000.

Police responded to the park on Oct. 1 just after 7:00 p.m. to find 32-year-old Leanne Darby bleeding from multiple knife wounds to her upper body, arms and neck. Police arrested 29-year-old Angela Smith less than an hour later at the Crown Market on 8th Street and charged her with first-degree assault.

Officers arrested Roberts Tuesday around noon at the intersection of 4th and G streets.

A call to Public Safety regarding why Roberts was charged with the crime has not been returned.
