Multiple Measure 11 charges were dropped today in a plea deal in Josephine County Circuit Court that would have landed the defendant with a lengthy prison sentence.

Increased fire danger on forestlands protected by the Oregon Department of Forestry’s Southwest Oregon District has made it necessary to increase the fire prevention measures on industrial operations, such as logging sites and other commercial operations. Industrial Fire Precaution Level II took effect at 12:01 Monday morning.

Medford Man Arrested and Jailed for July 7th Armed Robbery
Medford Police officers arrested 37-year-old Christopher Devine Friday around 9:00pm near Costco. Details surrounding his arrest have not been released.

Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest Fire Update
The Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest only detected one start from Friday's thunderstorm activity across the region, and it was contained at less than one tenth of an acre. Lightning strikes from Friday’s storm were primarily concentrated on the Siskiyou Mountains and High Cascades Ranger Districts. Reconnaissance flights and fire lookouts will continue to search for sleeper fires throughout the weekend.

Citizens calling for the recall of 66 percent of the Gold Hill City Council for voting to allow medical marijuana dispensaries submitted more than the required number of signatures to call for a special election in August.
