Ellington Jr. Sentenced to 21 Months after Pleading Guilty to Assault
Brian Fletcher Ellington Jr. pled guilty to attempting to commit a class B felony, assault II, on September 15th, and today Judge Lindi Baker sentenced the 23-year-old to 21 months in the Department of Corrections.

Trooper Incident Log
Aric Roland Kramer, 52, of Merlin, was stopped for speeding Saturday morning at 1:20. He failed the field sobriety tests and was transported to jail where a breath sample showed a blood alcohol content of .15 percent. He was cited and released.
Central Point Woman Dies in Motorcycle Crash
State Troopers are continuing the investigation into the cause of Sunday evening's motorcycle-involved traffic crash on Interstate 5 south of Roseburg that resulted in the death of a female passenger and injuries to two adult male operators from the Phoenix/Talent area. The woman died after arrival at a Roseburg-area hospital.

A presentation regarding the branding of Grants Pass was delivered to the city council during their Monday workshop.
Local Unemployment Slightly Improved, Down 1% over the Year
Total payroll employment in Josephine County increased by 140 jobs in August. Construction, and private educational and health services both gained 40 jobs over the month. Wood products manufacturing, plus mining and logging employment rose by 20. Financial activities lost 20 jobs from the July totals. Government employment added 60 jobs in August. A gain of 70 in local government, mostly local education, was slightly offset by a loss of 10 in state government employment. There was little change in employment for Josephine County’s other published industries in August.
