County Gains 110 Jobs in February
Josephine County total payroll employment rose by 110 jobs in February. Nursing and residential care facilities had the largest private sector monthly gain, up by 30 jobs. Construction and wood products manufacturing grew by 20 jobs each. Private sector industries losing jobs were food and beverage stores and wholesale trade which accounted for 30 fewer jobs. Government employment rose by 40 jobs. The federal government gained 10 positions and local government increased by 30, twenty of those in education

City Council Hears Review of Emergency Plan & Options for Pot Dispensaries
A review of the proposed emergency operations plan was presented to the Grants Pass City Council during their Monday workshop. The plan outlines the procedures to be followed in the event of a citywide emergency with specific steps to be taken for 11 different events that included floods, major fires, earthquakes, and terrorists’ events

The City of Gold Hill will lose its only banking institution in April when the Chase Bank branch closes. The location will be combined with the Chase branch on East Pine Street in Central Point.

Jacksonville City Hall to Move into Historic Courthouse
The Jacksonville City Council voted last week to relocate city hall into the 1883 Jackson County Courthouse unless renovation costs do not go over $1 million. Seismic engineering studies done found that reinforcement costs on the building should be about $300,000.
