Oregon Gulch 50% Contained; Mop-Up Continues
The Oregon Gulch Fire is now listed at 50 percent contained and completely lined as the 1,643 assigned personnel continue strengthening those lines and mop-operations.
Arrest Made in MacDonald Murder Case
An arrest has been made in the murder case of 61-year-old Michael MacDonald. MacDonald was found dead in the 6000 block of Rockydale Road south of Cave Junction on August 2nd.
Feds Plan Salvage Logging on Douglas Fire Complex
The federal government plans salvage logging on Southern Oregon forests swept by wildfire last year. The timber would come from land in a 75-square-mile area ignited by a dry lightning storm near Glendale in southern Douglas County. The fires burned for weeks.

City of G.P.’s Weekly Update
Grants Pass City Police made 64 arrests and issued 64 citations in the past week with the Nuisance Intervention Team making six contacts resulting in three citations and one warning.
Fire Weather Watch Issued by Weather Service
The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for Sunday morning through Monday Evening. A low pressure developing off the coast this weekend will bring a southeast flow containing significant moisture.
Replacement of Water Service will Disrupt “A” Street Traffic
The 300 block of Northeast “A” Street will be reduced to one lane traffic Monday through Thursday next week. Construction crews will be replacing water service near the intersection of 8th and “A” streets.
Driver Injured in Commercial Truck Crash Between Prospect & Union Creek
A commercial truck driver was seriously injured Friday morning after crashing head-on into a tree off Highway 62 near Prospect in Jackson County. Oregon State Police is continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash.
Sheriff’s Office makes an arrest in skirmish at Store Gulch Campground
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest after a large skirmish occurred near the Illinois River at Store Gulch Campground approximately 3:27 p.m. Thursday.
Most of Oregon Gulch Fire in Mop-Up Stage
Yesterday’s warm, dry and unstable weather served as a test to the fire containment lines around the Oregon Gulch fire, which held up well. Most of the fire is currently in mop up. Today, firefighters will continue efforts to secure lines, finish the contingency lines and start repairing the fireline in some sections.
