Opening Ceremonies for New Veteran’s Clinic
A standing room only crowd spilled into the parking lot of the Boardroom Complex on Williams Highway to observe the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new veterans clinic. On hand for the ceremonies were representatives of the Veteran’s Administration, Congressman Greg Walden, Senator Ron Wyden, local dignitaries, representatives of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and of course, many veterans.

OSP and Sheriff’s Office Wednesday incidents
Two males in the 300 block of Kimberly Way were allegedly in an altercation and fighting over a shotgun. Parties were separated when troopers arrived. Charges have been referred to the sheriff’s office.

Cave Junction Man Jailed for Stabbing Neighbor
Brian Fletcher Ellington, 22, of Cave Junction was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly stabbed 27-year-old Josh Nelson. The two men live in separate trailers at 5646 Rockydale Road.

Beware Scam Phone Calls
The Department of Public Safety has received numerous complaints in the last couple of days regarding citizens receiving text messages allegedly from a local bank asking for personal information. The complainants received a phone call purportedly from Bank of the Cascades requesting a call back on a 1-888 phone number. When the person calls that number a voice prompt asks for their social security number, debit card number and/or personal identification number.
