Fire Claims 2600+ Sq. Ft. Home Outside Ashland
An unoccupied two story home at 2026 Hyatt Prairie Road outside of Ashland burned to the ground Friday night despite the efforts of a small crew of Greensprings Fire and Rescue Personnel.
The alarm was sounded by neighbors about 9:30 Friday night when they saw the flames burning through the roof of the 2,681 square foot home.
Fire crews, working shorthanded because of the holiday, arrived to find the roof had already collapsed and the walls were beginning to come down.
Because of a lack of hydrants in the rural location the four firefighters set up a water shuttle, which they did for about 12 hours.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation but early signs point to an electrical origin. .
Property records list the owners as Stephen and Michal Jones.
