State Offices Closed Today

Today is a furlough day today for Oregon State employees, meaning most government offices will be closed today.

A furlough day allegedly saves the state about $2 million. This is the second furlough day this fiscal year, the first being September 16th.

Emergency service personnel of course are on duty with Troopers promising heavy patrols through out the holiday weekend that ends Sunday nigh at midnight.

Wednesday afternoon in a three hour period I-5 patrols stopped 69 vehicles for traffic violations, 50 for speeding, 25 of which were for 20 miles per hour over the posted speed.

8 citations for other violations were given out and 28 warnings were issued.
