Sheriff’s Office makes an arrest in skirmish at Store Gulch Campground
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest after a large skirmish occurred near the Illinois River at Store Gulch Campground approximately 3:27 p.m. Thursday.
Witnesses told deputies a large fight occurred between multiple intoxicated people and after the skirmish broke up around six people remained on scene including one man with a severely bloodied face and another man with a broken leg.
A deputy responded to the area and they located the man fingered as the main instigator, 28-year-old Marshall Brodie Elliot, swimming in the river and taunting authorities.
The deputy managed to arrest Elliot and he was lodged in jail on charges of assault, strangulation, reckless driving and driving while suspended.
The man with the broken leg was not located at the scene.
