Troopers Investigate Three Crashes; One DUII Issued
The Oregon State Troopers investigated three traffic accidents Tuesday, one resulting in a DUII citation and another that sent two Tacoma residents to the hospital.
At 11:10 a.m. a Chevy van towing a trailer swerved to avoid another vehicle that cut him off, sending the van into the median taking out 12 sections of barrier fencing at milepost 61 of Interstate 5. There were no injuries and the offending vehicle did not stop.
At about 6:54 p.m. Dennis Franklin Peck, 48, of Grants Pass was going north on Highway 199 at milepost 11 when he lost control of his Chevrolet sedan. The car came to rest off the highway injuring Peck and two of his three passengers. They were taken to Three Rivers Medical Center where a legal blood draw was taken revealing Peck with a blood alcohol content of .11. He was cited for DUII, reckless driving, reckless endangering and assault IV.
Shortly after 7 p.m. Avrohom S. Yarmush, 29, of Bellingham, Washington lost control of his Ford four door sedan while attempting to merge onto I-5 at the milepost 55 on-ramp. The Ford fishtailed off the ramp into the fast lane where it collided with a Porsche being driven by Jim Hodge, 37, of Tacoma. Jim and Amanda Hodge were taken to the hospital and Yarmush was cited.
