The Oregon Department of Forestry reports that the fire count is up to 29 from Tuesday’s thunderstorm.
The largest fires reported thus far is 1.5 acres in Murphy Gulch, approximately five miles east of Wimer, a half-acre fire in the Sardine Creek drainage and a quarter-acre fire on Negro Ben Mountain, three miles southwest of Ruch. The other fires are all a tenth of an acre or smaller.
All fire lookouts are staffed today and reconnaissance flights will be flying over district forestlands looking for more signs of smoke.
