Commissioners Okay Vote On Library Service District & Approved Animal Response Plan
The voters will get an opportunity to vote on the formation of a Josephine Community Library taxing district after a unanimous vote by the county commissioners supporting an order referring the matter to the November 4th general election at the end of a public hearing in the Anne Basker Auditorium Wednesday night.

The measure would authorize a permanent rate limit for operating taxes for the district. Voters will be asked to approve 39 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value to support the libraries.

The commissioners then moved on to their Weekly Business agenda and approved a proposed animal response plan for the county. The plan outlines citizenís responsibility for their animals in the event of a catastrophic event. The plan presents guidelines for animal owners to prepare for such an event and lays out resources they might be able to take advantage of and what the county can do to facilitate a safe response in the event of such an emergency.

The commissioners also approved the contracts for the resurfacing and seal coating for Upper River Road and the Merlin Galice Road; the economic development request of $35,000 to the Small Business Development Center; plus the new jail services contract with the city was approved.

The sale of county land in the North Valley Industrial Park was tabled.
