The cause of the Modoc Fire discerned
The cause of the Modoc Fire that broke out Thursday morning near White City near Modoc Orchard and Upper Table Rock was discovered to have been caused by a mowed field sparking a grass fire.
The fire grew to a total of 35 acres before being 100 percent contained late in the afternoon.
Modoc Road was closed for a time and 5 hikers were taken off Table Rock.
Three helicopters attacked the blaze in support of personnel from Jackson County Fire District 3 and Oregon Department of Forestry personnel. 100 firefighters remained on the fire overnight to mop-up the blaze.
No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
