Training Exercise Scheduled for Local Firefighters Tuesday
Grants Pass Fire and Rescue is hosting a training exercise that will include units from Rural Metro, Illinois Valley Fire, Rogue River Fire District and Apple Gate Fire District #9.
The training exercise is scheduled for Tuesday morning and will take place in the Forest Hills neighborhood.
The scenario will have units responding to a fast moving wildfire to test and improve the participating agencies notification, response, coordination and communication systems used during an incident.
An additional objective is to increase community awareness about the Firewise communities program, how to create defensible space and prepare for evacuation.
The units participating make the Rogue Valley Task Force #1. The Rogue Valley Fire Chief’s association has established several of these task forces in both Josephine and Jackson Counties.
The training exercise will also be held on Friday and Saturday.
