Driver evades police after chase on I-5
A police pursuit on I-5 in south Medford ended Tuesday night after the teen driver crashed and fled evading police.

The Oregon State Police attempted to stop a 2004 Acura TL four-door with Washington plates at approximately 9:54 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-5 near Phoenix. The driver began to elude at high speeds and additional officers from multiple agencies began pursuit. The driver exited the interstate and attempted to turn right on Highland Drive when he lost control, crossed the center median and struck a curb. The driver managed to escape capture but a female passenger, identified as 18-year-old Justice Christine Campbell of Kent, Wash., was apprehended after a short foot chase.

The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of Lake Stevens, Wash.

The driver has been tentatively identified as a 19-year-old Washington resident but his name has not been released.

Anyone with further information about this case should contact the OSP Southern Command Center by calling 541-664-4600.
