Medford School Board Hosts Public Meeting on Proposed Budget
The Medford School Board is hosting a public meeting to take community comments on its proposed 2014-15 budget tonight at 7:00 in the District Education Center Board Room at 815 South Oakdale Avenue. Those wishing to speak will be asked to sign in and limit their comments to three minutes.
The budget anticipates revenue of $113.2 million, a 6.3 percent increase from the current budget. The added funds will be used to hire more staff, provide salary increases, lengthen the school year and expand summer school.
The District Budget Committee approved the proposal earlier this month, after increasing funding by $220,000 for athletics. The increase will allow students to play sports without paying participation fees.
