Boatnik Parade celebrates hometown roots
Boatnik on Saturday is highlighted by the Boatnik Parade.
The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. on 6th Street beginning in front of the Josephine County Courthouse and will head toward the Caveman Bridge. This yearís theme is ďGrants Pass, Thatís Where I Come From.Ē 6th Street will be closed to traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Access across the river will only be allowed on the 7th Street and Parkway bridges.
Parade coverage will be broadcast live on KAJO AM 1270.
Boatnik festivities begin with a public breakfast at the American Legion at 7:00 a.m.
The 43nd annual Menís Fast Pitch Tournament is held at 8:00 a.m. at Morrison Centennial Park.
Before the parade, the 2014 Grants Pass 5k Freedom Run will be held along the parade route.
Riverside Park events begin at 10:00 a.m. with the opening of the Davis Shows Carnival and midway followed by bingo at noon.
Drag boat exhibitions are held at 12:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and a sprint boat exhibition is held at 1:45 p.m.
Republic Services is hosting a Papa Johnís Pizza Eating Contest at 2:00 p.m.
The day wraps up with round two of the Jim Sigel Chevy Drive it Home Golf Shoot-Out begins at 5:15 p.m.
The midway and refreshment garden will remain open until 11:45 p.m.
