Prescribed Burns Slated for Onion Mountain & Galice Creek Areas
The Department of Forestry has several small prescribed burns scheduled today in the Onion Mountain and Galice Creek areas plus several burns closer to populated areas.
41 acres are to be torched at 390 Daly Lane off of Riverbanks Road near the old mint farm. 80 acres will be burned four miles northeast of Grants Pass in the East Jones Creek Road area. 40 acres will be under the torch six miles northwest of Rogue River off the Joe Jack Line West Road.
Twelve miles south of Grants Pass 104 acres will go under the torch and 140 acres are being targeted eight miles east of Cave Junction.
75 acres in four separate burns are scheduled today five miles south of Onion Mountain. Three miles east of the mountain 83 acres in five different burns are being targeted, while three more burns will take place six miles north of Onion Mountain for a total of 66 acres.
Four burns are planned in the Galice Creek area targeting 29 acres.
Residents in those areas should be aware of forestry personnel and their equipment monitoring the burns.
