Yesterday troopers responded to a disturbance and assault in Cave Junction. Troopers and local emergency responders arrived at the Junction Inn motel and found a 36-year old man with stabbing cuts on his forearms received while defending himself from an assault.

Information provided by the victim and witnesses identified a male suspect who troopers took into custody and transported to the Josephine County Jail. Corrections deputies positively identified the suspect through fingerprints checked in the Automated Fingerprint Identification System as Jeffery Jordan Mathes, 37.
