Police Officers Collar Suspected Burglar in 3 Minutes
Grants Pass Police detained a suspected burglar within three minutes of 9 1 1 being notified Monday afternoon. Jailed was Jacob Tyler Cottrell, 20, of Murphy.

Monday at 12:42 p.m. a 58-year-old woman reported to dispatch a burglary had just occurred at 1990 Meadow Glen. The woman returned home to find her back door damaged, the home rifled through and the suspect in her backyard.


The lady gave a precise description and told authorities he fled over her fence. Officers arrived within a minute and saw Cottrell running from the area. When he saw the officers Cottrell stopped running and surrendered.

Authorities determined Cottrell had taken property from the victim valued at over $100 as well as causing damage to her property and home.

Cottrell is also on felony probation for a previous burglary and is facing Burglary I, Theft II and Criminal Mischief II charges for Monday’s incident.
