Heavy snow falls early on Crater Lake
Fall has barely arrived in Oregon but heavy snow has already struck Crater Lake.
Marsha McCabe, a spokeswoman for the only national park in Oregon, said there was an unusually early snowfall with over eight inches of snow accumulation at the park thus far.
The snowfall at Crater Lake can average around 500 inches per year.
McCabe says the north entrance to the park and West Rim Drive are temporarily closed but should be reopened by the weekend as the forecast calls for nice weather.
