Jackson County Expo Cuts Days & Hours
The Jackson County Board of Commissioners approved a modified budget to keep the Expo open through the fiscal year. Expo officials are reducing employee hours and days the facility will be open during the winter months.
$711,987 has been budgeted for the final nine months of the budget period.
The main source of funding for the Expo is the Jackson County Fair which saw a drop in attendance and revenues in July. This yearís fair revenue of $476,000 compared with $900,000 last year, but expenses also dropped significantly due to the Expo using outside promoters for the fairís two concerts.
Exactly what days and hours will be reduced is still being worked out but most cuts will likely occur during November and December when fewer events are scheduled.
