Increase of 230 Josephine County Jobs in August
Total payroll in Josephine County rose by 230 jobs last month. Health care and social assistance had the largest estimated employment increase, up by 100 jobs in August.
Construction, manufacturing and retail trade all added 20 jobs while leisure and hospitality had an estimated decline of 30 jobs when the forest fires curtailed the tourism-related jobs.
Government employment showed a net gain of 90 payroll jobs.
Over the year the county gained 240 payroll jobs making the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for August at 11.2 percent, a tenth better than July, and eight tenths better than August of 2012.
