Fire Season Begins Monday
Fire season on forestlands protected by the Oregon Department of Forestry Southwest District begins Monday at 12:01 a.m. The fire danger level will be moderate and Industrial Fire Precaution level will be one. This declaration affects state, private, county and Bureau of Land Management forests in Josephine and Jackson County.

“C” Street Shooter Sentenced to 70 Months Hard Time
Judge Pat Wolke sentenced Trevor Lee Walton to 70 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections in a plea arrangement that had Walton pleading guilty to second degree assault with a firearm with two other charges, felon in possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon, being dropped.

Commissioners deny Josephine Community Libraries additional funding
The Josephine County Commissioners during their Thursday administrative meeting turned down a request by Josephine Community Libraries Executive Director Kate Lasky for additional funding to the amount of $35,000.

Year Old Search for Missing White City Man Still Active
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for their help in finding Christopher Jon Evans, 26, of White City. Today marks the one year anniversary when family and friends last saw him. Chris was reported missing to law enforcement on July 29, 2013. Today is also Chris’ 26th birthday. According to family members who saw Evans, he was in White City and Eagle Point before disappearing.

9th Circuit Rules on Ashland Watershed Thinning Project
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled, in regard to the Ashland watershed thinning project, that the Forest Service acted arbitrarily and capriciously in approving a project that will exceed soil exposure standards.
