Unemployment Creeps Up
Josephine County total employment fell by 100 in December. Over the year, the county’s job count rose by 160. An increase of 300 private sector jobs was offset by a loss of 140 government positions. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate estimate was down slightly from November at 11.6 percent in December.

Commissioner’s Discuss Law Enforcement Taxing District
In matters from Commissioner’s at the Wednesday Business Session Cherryl Walker responded to citizens comments about the proposed law enforcement taxing district saying it was a citizens generated proposal that deserved to go forward but pointed out it is not finalized and citizens should continue to comment on the options available by and during the February 7th hearing on the district.
