The search for a teenager who disappeared Wednesday night while swimming the Rogue River has been called off.

Aircraft, fire crews battle Jackson County blazes
Fire-fighting aircraft and additional fire-fighters are being sent to the Longbranch Fire three miles west of Shady Cove this afternoon, according to the Oregon Department of Forestry.

The Longbranch fire is several fires in Jackson County started by lightning since yesterday.

CJ man treated after rollover
A Cave Junction man was treated and released with a bump on his head at Three Rivers Community Hospital after he was involved in a rollover accident near the intersection of Airport Road and Redwood Highway last night.

19-year-old Joseph Scott Mason was transported to the hospital at about 11:10 p.m. last night.

Man rescued from Lower Grave Creek after jump
Josephine County Search and Rescue personnel thought they were just having a training exercise last night, but they ended up in a real rescue situation, in the Wolf Creek area.

GP Little Leage Teams to State
Grants Pass’s 9 & 10 year old little league team opens play at the state tournament in Portland tomorrow at 11 facing Murrayhill.

A win in that game will mean a 2:00 pm start on Sunday. A loss means a 5:00 pm start in the double elimination tournament.

Snoop Dog and Ice Cube will be performing in the Amphitheater at the Jackson County Fairgrounds next Thursday as part of their tour of the west. The show starts at 7:00 p.m.

An outbreak of fire blight on pear trees in Talent sent workers hurrying into the fields to cut infected limbs from the fruit bearing trees and burning them.

Search Continues For Teen Missing in the Rogue
Josephine County divers continued the search for Shane Marshall Thursday with no success reported as of 5:00pm last night.

Marshall was swimming with friends in the Rogue near Baker Park Wednesday afternoon when he was pulled downstream by the current. When friends couldn’t find him they called authorities and the rescue team was called in about eight Wednesday night.

Thunderstorm brings Lightning & Fires
The thunderstorm that passed through Southern Oregon missed most of Josephine County but dropped rain, had wind gusts of 30 to 40 miles per hour and unleashed 120 lightning strikes in Jackson County igniting several fires.
