The Josephine County Commissioners this morning unanimously approved the application for a $475,000 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration toward the installation of fencing at the Illinois Valley Airport.
County grants, loans $50K for SOASTC facilty
In an unprecedented move, the Josephine County Commissioners this morning unanimously voted to grant the Southern Oregon Adolescent Study and Treatment Center, or SOASTC, $25,000 in Economic Development funds, and loan an equal amount, toward the construction of a resident treatment home for young adults in transition.
Car, brush fire quickly put out
Grants Pass Rural Fire Department put out a car fire that momentarily turned into a grass fire in the Jerome Prairie area last night.
When the call came in, flames as high as six feet tall and black smoke poured from the vehicle, but the fire was knocked down before it caught on a tree.
The fire, on the 2300 block of Jerome Prairie Road, was reported at 9:41 p.m. yesterday.
County's high Pertussis count increases
This year's already high number of Whooping Cough cases in Grants Pass has risen again.
Four new cases of Pertussis have just been discovered in Grants Pass, according to Josephine County Public Health.
Search Continues for Missing Medford Man
The Jackson County Sheriff’s office continues to search for Ryan Finchum, last seen in Medford on June 3rd. His vehicle was found in the Klamath River Canyon June 7th.

The Josephine County Commissioners will be Carl Wilson’s guest on the Tuesday Talk show this morning at 9:35am.
Following the talk show the Commissioners will convene their regular Tuesday meeting at 10:45am in room 154 of the Courthouse.
California Man Hurt Rafting the Rogue
Sacramento man rafting the Rogue River fell at a camp at Tate Creek Saturday evening, landing on his head causing paralysis.
Josephine County officials got a brief satellite phone call from the river and determined that Thomas Frye, 59, was seriously injured, and contacted the Curry County Sheriff’s Department.
