DA to Decide to Prosecute Prostitutes or Not
The investigation into an alleged Ashland prostitution ring that advertised on Craigslist is in the hands of the Jackson County DA’s office for a decision on whether to prosecute.

Roseburg Beats Medford; Takes State Crown

The Medford Mustangs swept through the competition undefeated to get the Legion AAA State Championship game in Klamath Falls Sunday facing rival Roseburg, whom they had already beaten once in the tournament 15 to 5.

Roseburg had to beat the Mustangs twice to claim the crown, and that’s what they did, beating Medford 9 to 6 in the opener, and 8 to 7 in the Championship If Game.

Roseburg advances to the Super regionals in Washington.

AuCoin Leaves Rogue Valley
Les AuCoin, 67, a former congressman and Southern Oregon University teacher is moving to Montana to be near family in Bozeman.

AuCoin served in congress from 1975 to 1993, then moved to the Rogue Valley after a narrow loss in the 1992 race for U.S. Senator Bob Packwood’s seat.

The Medford Food Coop may become a reality today. The concept of the food coop began in 2005 and Friday the Coop’s bank account was at $485,000, just shy of the $500,000 needed.

A New Bank, 2 Mondays in a Row
For the second Monday in a row, southern Oregon residents have found a new bank in the neighborhood.

Friday afternoon the Oregon Division of Finance and Corporate Securities closed Liberty Bank of Eugene and named the FDIC receiver, at which point all the deposits and most of the assets were transferred to Home Federal Bank of Nampa, Idaho.

Medford Man Jailed on Attempted Murder Charges
A 25-year old Medford Man is under arrest in connection with a shooting incident outside a restaurant.

Raymond Ramal Williams was arrested Saturday on two counts of attempted murder. Williams also had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear on a theft charge.

50 affected by 80-minute power outage in East Park Street area
About 50 customers in the East Park Street area of Grants Pass were without power for a little more than an hour this morning.

A wire that had been displaced from its post, perhaps by wear, was listed as the reason for the outage.

The outage started at 6:26 a.m. and ended at 7:46 this morning.

Jacksonville city councilor steps down
Jacksonville City Councilwoman Linda Meyers has submitted a letter of resignation following what she described as numerous confrontations with another council member.

Meyers had been elected to her four-year term in January of last year.
