Ashland Bans Plastic Bags
The Ashland City Council last night approved a ban on the distribution of plastic bags and instituted a 10 cent fee on each paper bag requested by customers who forget to bring reusable bags. The new law will take effect in six months, allowing businesses to use their supplies of bags and develop new systems to supply paper bags.

Gold Hill May Pump Waste Water to Central Point
Gold Hill’s water treatment plant has undergone a $300,000 upgrade that has alleviated the problem of releasing poorly treated wastewater into the Rogue River. However the city is only able to squeeze another five years from the plant before investing $5 million to $10 million into a new facility.

RCC Foundation Names Basker New Executive Director
The Rogue Community College Foundation has named Judith E. Basker as its new executive director. Ms. Basker will join the college May 19th. She is currently senior major gifts officer for Willamette University, a position she has held since 2000
