Gold Hill desires part-time cop to curb crime
The City of Gold Hill hasnít had a city paid law enforcement authority in over a decade but the hiring of a part-time cop is in the works for the small town which is typically protected by the Jackson County Sheriffís Office.
Crews Knock Down House Fire, Near SOU Saturday Morning
Pajama-clad residents in a neighborhood above Southern Oregon University took to the street Saturday morning as twenty firefighters and command staff from Ashland Fire & Rescue, along with Jackson County Fire District #5 responded to a two-alarm fire at 588 Elkader St.

Merlin Hunter Sued by Wounded Boyís Family
A Merlin man, Darren D. Green, 47, who shot at a deer two years ago and wounded a boy at a nearby school-bus stop has been sued by the family of Ulises Hernandez, who was 10-years-old at the time.
20 Year Promise Finally Fulfilled as Construction for Medfordís Liberty Park Begins
A quarter acre park is under construction at the corner of North Bartlett and Maple Streets just north of downtown Medford in the Liberty Park neighborhood that shares its name with the soon to be completed facility.

Assessorís Office Open Extra Hours for Tax Deadline
The deadline for paying the first trimester property taxes is next Friday, November 15th. The County Assessorís office, normally closed on Fridays, will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accommodate property owners.

Meth Bag Seized on Bus Traveling Through Phoenix
Wednesday the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement team, acting on a tip, seized about two pounds of methamphetamine from luggage discovered on a bus traveling through Phoenix from southern California.
