Fire Closes Highway 238, the Williams Highway.
The Williams Highway is now open to a single lane with flaggers. Watch for fire equipment and personnel on or near the roadway fighting a structure/grass fire believed to have been caused by a downed power line. A fire broke out between the Williams Highway and the Applegate River forcing a closure of the highway around milepost 8 around 2:30 p.m. The Oregon Department of Forestry put the fire in the 8800 block near Crystal Drive.
Two lightning-caused fires reported in the Williams area
Two lightning-caused fires have been reported west of Williams in the Grayback Mountain area.
Oregon Gulch Fire Now 82% Contained
Firefighters are making significant progress on the Oregon Gulch fire burning 15 miles east of Ashland. The fire is now listed at 82 percent contained.

Monday night’s thunderstorm peppered Jackson County and northern California with lightning strikes and a 100-acre fire exploded on Rogue River Drive between Shady Cove and Eagle Point.
West Nile Virus Confirmed in Central Point
The West Nile virus has been found in mosquitoes collected near Central Point. It's the third consecutive year that the virus has been detected in Jackson County. The last known human case in the southwest Oregon county was in 2005.

Beaver Complex 74% Contained
The Beaver Complex of fires is now listed as 74 percent contained and some of the resources are being re-distributed, although 1,435 personnel remain assigned to the fire, primarily the Oregon Gulch fire. They are supported by six helicopters and 44 engines.
