Assessorís Office Open Extra Hours for Tax Deadline
The deadline for paying the first trimester property taxes is next Friday, November 15th. The County Assessorís office, normally closed on Fridays, will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accommodate property owners.

Meth Bag Seized on Bus Traveling Through Phoenix
Wednesday the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement team, acting on a tip, seized about two pounds of methamphetamine from luggage discovered on a bus traveling through Phoenix from southern California.

A car crash on Redwood Highway in the southbound lanes around milepost 15 just after midnight today ejected a mother from the vehicle.

Controlled Burn Planned in Cave Junction Area Today
One small controlled burn is planned today by the Oregon Department of Forestry. That burn, on Perpetua land is slated to be two acres and will take place 11 miles east of Cave Junction.

Eagle Point School Safety Committee Reviews Costs
The Eagle Point School District Weapons Safety committee was poorly attended Thursday night prompting the Districtís committee facilitator to cancel the planned speaker and instead hold an informal discussion about relative costs for the different proposed deterrents.

Central Point Bookkeeper Arrested for Embezzlement
A Central Point woman, Rebecca Lynn Santana, 61, was arrested yesterday following an investigation at the Eagle Point Irrigation District. She faces charges of first degree forgery and first degree aggravated theft.

Jacksonville council rejects residentís survey proposal
The Jacksonville City Council have rejected a proposition by a resident who requested the council insert a survey in the cityís water bills regarding citizenís opinions on whether money should be spent to outfit the fire station to make it seismically sound or to upgrade the old Jackson County Courthouse to become the new city hall.
