Council Enacts Moratorium and Prohibition on Marijuana Facilities within City Limits
The state permitted moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries was enacted by the Grants Pass City Council Wednesday night by ordinance. The council immediately passed a second ordinance prohibiting the operation of any medical marijuana facility within city boundaries in perpetuity.

Dual Car Crash Near Gold Hill Kills One, Two Hospitalized
KDRV is reporting a fatal accident near Gold Hill. Officials have confirmed at 2745 North River Road, an accident involving two cars has killed one person and sent two others to the hospital

Medford Man Jailed after SWAT Callout for Assault
A Medford man was arrested and jailed on assault and menacing charges early Tuesday morning by the Medford SWAT team. Police were dispatched to the parking lot of Providence Hospital after James Allen Smithee, 29, collapsed attempting to get to the hospital after an assault by his roommate.

Identity thief sent to prison
Judge Pat Wolke sentenced 32-year-old Matthew Nathan Waltenburg today to 30 months prison time after he pled guilty to charges of racketeering, identity theft, theft and possession of meth.

Southern Oregon Couple Sentenced to Federal Prison for Fraud and Tax Charges
Monday U.S. District Judge Owen Panner sentenced Kenneth Johnson, 62, to 33 months in federal prison and Diana Arredondo, 56, to 10 months in prison.

Commissioners Pass 1st Reading of Dispensary Moratorium
The Josephine County Commissioners passed unanimously the first reading of an ordinance declaring a one year moratorium on medical marijuana facilities at the Weekly Business Session this morning. The state set the moratorium option up to allow local jurisdictions time and the authority to regulate reasonable hours of operation, location and the manner in which the marijuana is dispensed.
